One Day in Bangkok

Ever have a quick layover in a city and don’t know where to start exploring? I recently had a one night layover in Bangkok on my way back to New York from Rayong and am quite happy with all the exploring I was able to do in such a short amount of time.

Thailand is a very special country. From its warm people to the outstanding food, and beauty, there is truly no place like it. Bangkok, the capital, is an exceptional city. I had a blast during my most recent one night stay!

Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok

We stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel which was luxurious and located right on the Chao Praya River. This convenient location allowed us to use the hotel’s complementary boat shuttle to see various attractions such as the What Phraya Krai area which had tons of restaurants and shops.

Another thing about Bangkok is that you simply cannot go wrong with the food. There is tasty street food everywhere! The street food is also very cheap yet delicious. Its a win win!

Thailand’s large Buddhist population has influenced the creation of beautiful temples. My personal favorite was the Wat Pho Temple. Wat Pho is extremely peaceful and zen. The golden Buddha statues that surround the temple are spectacular. This temple is famous for its Reclining Buddha, a 160 foot golden Buddha that lies on its side. This temple is fabulous and worth the visit!

Overall, Bangkok is an amazing place for its hospitality, food, shopping, culture and beautiful places to stay. We stopped here on our way back to New York from Rayong for just one night and were able to fit a good amount in without feeling overwhelmed or rushed. Bangkok is a wonderful place and we plan on staying longer next time!
